ACTED is looking for professionally confident, self-motivated, experienced and committed team player to fill the Finance Assistant position in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Enduring transparent and compliant with ACTED Ethiopia Procedures management of payments cash or otherwise, good filing and document tracking. Assisting the Finance Department with internal reports (TITANIC) as we well as supporting field teams with tasks related to finance.

Position 1 – Finance Assistant

Qualification,Experience & Skills

Degree/Higher Diploma preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field and two years’ experience in working with International NGOs in the similar level.
Deep and clear understanding of humanitarian principles and activities
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective and working relationships
Excellent communication skills, personable and articulate
Fluent in written and spoken Amharic and English.
Keen to detail and accuracy required and willing to learn
Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work with limited supervision, pro-active and a good team-player.

Duties and Responsibilities:

In coordination with field teams, schedule the collection of weekly attendance sheets and both for staff and daily worker
Cross check all Admin and Finance documentation and ensure that all documents are in line with ACTED compliance procedures
Prepare payment sheets and pre-count each beneficiaries payment to be made after coordination with Project team;
Schedule, set up, and execute beneficiary payments with close coordination with project team and logistics and security department
Ensure that the cash safe has enough cash and denominations for each payment in conjunction with the finance department at capital office;
Prepare payment vouchers and keeping the cash book up to date;
Ensure all Cash IN/Cash out are fully supported with required FLAT documents and justification;
Check that no supportive documentation or signature are missing before releasing any payment
Fill in Vouchers on a regular basis and ensure registration of vouchers in the cashbook
Proceed with payments for all items and services approved by the Area coordinator
Check the Safe & Cashbook at the end of each day and ensure that the balance matches with the Cash Books

Position 2 – Project Assistant

Qualification,Experience & Skills

Graduated with a university degree (i.e., at least Bachelor level) with a major in social science, law, education, or psychology.
At least three years of experience working in an international/local NGO or for an international institution (e.g., agencies).
At least 2 years’ experience working in the field of protection with an international/local NGO or for an international Institution (e.g., agencies) in a camp.
Proficient skills with the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., particularly in PowerPoint and Word).
Very good level of English and Somali (i.e., spoken and written);
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to translate reports from English to Somali language

Key Responsibilities

Support protection issues and provide feedback based on findings.
Participate in regular spot checks in the targeted sites.
Support in conducting regular safety audits – in coordination with protection actors.
Hold focus group discussions with site residents especially vulnerable groups to identify and analyze protection needs and gaps that exist within the targeted sites and settlements.
Participate in the analysis of protection risks and spheres of action where protection activities can be set in to meet the identified risks.
Ensure that individuals with special needs are identified during registration and through door-to-door visits.
Ensure that vulnerable households and individuals receive information on services available and refer to other organizations if needs are identified.
Ensure that committees set up are inclusive and to the needs of the most vulnerable site residents.
Assess accessibility challenges to access services for vulnerable groups/individuals through spot checks, assessment, focus group discussion, and analysis of complaints.
Support for the establishment of site-level governance structure and ensure the representation in these governance structures of vulnerable / minority communities (i.e., women, youth…).
Ensure effective protection referral pathways with mapped service providers active at the site of intervention.
Supervise ongoing project activities including Cash for Work (CFW) at the field level.
Collect Post distribution monitoring monthly, market surveys, case studies, and most significant success stories.
Managing the CRM information desk activities on the site, including collection and review of complaints forms, referral to responsible agencies, timely reporting of sensitive complaints to the line manager,
Liaise with partners, service providers, and camp committees on protection issues.
Attend all camp coordination meetings as requested.
Attend external meetings as requested.
Ensure timely weekly reports to the CASH/Protection Officer on activities implemented and/or monitored.
Perform other duties as required by the relevant supervisor

Position 3 – Protection Officer

Qualification,Experience & Skills

Graduated with a university degree (i.e., at least Bachelor level) with a major in social science, law, education, or psychology.
At least five years’ experience working in an international/local NGO or for an international institution (e.g., agencies).
At least three years of experience working in the field of protection with an international/local NGO or for an international Institution (e.g., agencies) in a camp.
At least one-year managerial experience, including leading/supervising staff, report writing, and/or meeting facilitation.
Proficient skills with the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., particularly in PowerPoint and Word).
Very good level of English and Somali (i.e., spoken and written).
Does not reside in the camp.
Strong attention to detail.

Desired:

Master graduate with a major in social science, law, education, or psychology.;
Ability to translate reports from English to Somali language.

Position Profile:

The Protection Officer manages the provision of all protection activities undertaken by ACTED in the framework of its emergency humanitarian response programming in the sites of intervention. This includes identification and monitoring of protection issues, ensuring effective referral pathways to relevant protection partners, and ensuring protection mainstreaming for all actors intervening in the camp. The Protection Officer will also ensure that a protection perspective is integrated into the coordination meetings organized in the sites and other stakeholders’ meetings.

Objectives

Monitor all protection-related matters (i.e., identify services and gaps) in the site of intervention and follow-up by referring identified cases to the relevant partner and advocate for relevant distribution/services provision to fill identified gaps.
Ensure the mainstreaming of protection standards across all intervening partners’ programming.
Develop new tools/processes to enhance service mapping/monitoring in the site of intervention and better channel up to higher coordination bodies protection concerns.
Establish/support effective referral pathways.
Report on protection activities to the Project Manager
Perform any other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Project Manager.
