GIZ provides technical assistance to the MoA’s flagship programs in Sustainable Land Management since their inception, at national, regional, and local levels. The new program module “Climate-Sensitive Innovations in Land Management” (CLM) focuses on capacity development and building of SLM actors through policy and institutional advisory, field-level coaching and advisory services, (digital) training, networking, piloting field activities as well as research and communications.

Position 1 – Soil & Water Conservation (SWC) Engineer (Specialist)

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in soil and water conservation engineering, Agricultural Engineering  or, Civil engineering;
Experience: 5 years practical field experience of working with soil conservation and water resources management in arid and semi-arid lowlands,
Proven ability of study, design and construction of context-specific soil and water conservation measures in lowland areas like water spreading weirs;
Experience with pastoral and/ or agro-pastoral communities in arid and semi-arid lowlands, preferably in Afar, Oromia, SNNP or Somali region;
Understanding of impacts of environmental degradation and alternative natural resource management approaches.
Experience in working with governmental structures, international organizations, NGOs and/or research institutes.

Other knowledge, additional competencies

High level of motivation, proactivity, self-discipline, integrity and accountability.
Readiness to work in rural lowland circumstances and frequent travel to project sites.
Very good English and Amharic language skills

Position 2 – Accounting Specialist (SNNPR)

Qualifications:University degree (BA) in Accounting, Business Management or equivalent.

Position 4 – Rural Development Advisor

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Rural Development, Agricultural Economics, Natural resources Management, Agricultural Engineering,Anthropology or related field of study

Professional experience

5 years practical field experience of working with rural development in arid and semi-arid lowlands,
Excellent technical and working knowledge in pastoral sectors and drylands of Ethiopia outlined above; among these, knowledge and experience in pastoral/Agropastoral and community development is required.
Strong technical and analytical skills in a range of issues of relevance to dry lands and rural development and integrated soil and water conservation approaches in collaboration with government services and local communities.
Track record of commitment to teamwork and ability to interact effectively and collegially with pee

Position 6 – Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist

Qualifications: MSC/ bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics, Social Science, Statistics with advanced training on monitoring and evaluation topics
Excellent knowledge of English, Amharic and/or any other local language (written and spoken).
Excellent working knowledge of standard computer applications and proven experience of computer statistical packages and/ data analysis software (Stata and or SPSS)
Experience: A minimum of 8 years‟ experience in a similar position involving data collection, documentation and reporting
Experience in working for GIZ projects and familiarity with GIZ’s rules and regulations

Other knowledge, additional competencies

Demonstrable experience in producing good quality documents for different audiences and managing information management systems.
Hand on experience in data processing and management of large-scale surveys
Strong experience in conducting surveys and assessment
Excellent knowledge of the GIZ rules and regulations and of GIZ project cycle management.
Familiarity on topics related to the fields of climate smart agriculture, SLM, capacity building and community empowerment

Position 8 – Advisor ICT and Digitalization

Qualification: Master’s degree in Digitalization, Computer Science, IT, or related fields

Experience: 7 years of professional experience as a trainer, researcher, and system developer with at least 2 years of professional experience in a comparable position

Position 9 – Communication and PR Specialist

Qualifications:University degree in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or any related field.
Postgraduate degree (MA, MBA or PhD degree) in above fields will be an asset.
Experience: 3-5 years professional experience in a comparable position.
Experience in strategic communication planning, implementation, budgeting and monitoring
Proven experience in content development, writing and/or editorial work.
Experience supervising the production and quality of communication products and tools.
Experience in press management and monitoring
Knowledge of event management
Basic knowledge of design and video editing
Basic knowledge of development policy issues
Experience working in an international & intercultural context/organization.
First-hand experience in dealing with political decision-makers, civil society, scientific institutions and in the agricultural/rural development/biodiversity sector.

Proven knowledge of English and Amharic language, written and spoken. Knowledge of Afaan Oromo or Sidama is an asset.
