Position 1 – Senior Livelihoods Officer

Job Description

The International Rescue Committee, one of the world’s largest humanitarian international NGOs, provides relief, rehabilitation and development support to vulnerable people and communities over 40 countries. We began work in Ethiopia in 2000 in response to severe drought in Ethiopia’s Somali region and are currently providing assistance to Ethiopians and refugees in nine regions in Ethiopia, implementing emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery, and development (ERD), women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sectoral emergency response.

Qualification: University degree (BSC) or MCS in agricultural economics, economics, or other related fields and with minimum of five years of work experience in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of livelihood projects.
Preferred experience & skills:
Experience: 4 years of proven experience leading planning, , implementing, monitoring and evaluation of balanced livelihood project and preferable under refugee context

Additional  Skills

Training in livelihoods /or balanced livelihoods, business skill or entrepreneurship training
Relevant education and/or professional backgrounds in either rural/agricultural and/or urban (e.g. income generating activities, small enterprises, micro-finance, vocational training) livelihoods fields is helpful
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as, an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications
Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven track record to prioritize and deliver on time
Strong analytic problem-solving skills
Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional distributed team structure
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with partners at all levels
Ability to manage and work through change in a proactive and positive manner.

Job Description

Work Experience: At least 2 years of work experience in supply chain operations

Fluent English written and spoken. Knowledge of French and Arabic is added advantage. Competent with using computers, especially Microsoft Office Word and Excel spreadsheets and Outlook.
