Job Position 1 – Intern – Regional Trade Associate

Required Qualification and Experience
Education: Applicants must be enrolled (or have recently graduated from) in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher) Or have recently graduated with a first-level university degree related to Economics, Management, Business Administration, International Relations/Development, or other relevant fields and must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
Experience:
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Languages
Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French is an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Regional Advisor – AfCFTA and direct guidance of the Regional Analyst, the intern will undertake the following tasks:

Assist in implementing the UNDP AfCFTA Project through supporting preparation of knowledge products and regional value chain analyses. Duties include data collection and analysis.
Support the team organize capacity building activities for youth and women led MSMEs on trade and investments issues
Help organize trade forums and meetings within the AfCFTA framework.
Analyze data and relevant information on AfCFTA and support policy advisory services on trade in goods, services, and digital trade.
Respond to Ad hoc requests in the areas of Economic and trade integration
Other tasks for all the Associates require attending team meetings and supporting administrative processes.

Job Position 2 – Internship – Project Support (AFSIT)

Required Qualification and Experience
Education: Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher) in Political Science, International Relations, Development or related field;
Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in Political Science, International Relations, Development or related field;
Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (1) and (2) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;
Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
Experience:
Experience in project and event management desirable
Familiarity with the UN system in general
Familiarity with SDGs and Agenda 2030 is desirable.
Language:
Proficiency in English;
Knowledge of French would be an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the AFSIT Partnerships Specialist, the AFSIT Project Support Intern will undertake the following:
Conduct research on political transitions, governance, peacebuilding, and inclusive development in Africa.
Support the development of country and regional analysis, mapping key challenges, trends, and opportunities in transition contexts.
Gather and analyze data on governance, institutional reforms, and social cohesion efforts.
Prepare briefing notes, background papers, and analytical reports to inform AFSIT’s work.
Monitor regional and global policy developments related to democratic transitions and inclusive governance.
Help coordinate and organize AFSIT workshops and events aimed at increasing awareness and capacity development, including planning, sending letters and invitations, preparing minutes, logistics, etc.
Assist in tracking project deliverables, timelines, and budgets to ensure smooth implementation.
Support coordination efforts with partners such as CSOs, regional bodies, and other partners.
Provide logistical and administrative support for meetings, missions, and events.
Support the preparation of project progress reports, donor reports, and internal briefings.
Assist in documenting lessons learned, best practices, and case studies from AFSIT’s work.
Maintain a database of knowledge products, research materials, and programmatic outcomes.
Contribute to developing presentations, support documents, and data summaries for reporting purposes.
Help document impact and key milestones from AFSIT initiatives.
Provide general support to the AFSIT team as needed.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Job Position 3 – Regional Trade Analyst

Required Qualification and Experience
Education: Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Trade, Economics, Finance or related fields is required. OR
A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above, in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
Applicants with Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field of study are not required to have professional work experience.
Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) are required to have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience at the national and/or international level in the areas of economic, trade or finance.
Required Language(s)
Fluent in English is required.
